DID  YOU  KNOW  THAT...

Did you know that the traditional Novena to Saint Joseph made yearly by the Good Shepherd Sisters began with an explosion in the Mother House laundry facility?

See answer >>

The year was 1904, and a new electric generator had just been installed at the laundry. One evening, Sister Mary of the Immaculate Conception got the idea of experimenting with X-rays using the generator. This caused an explosion. An engineer employed by the Congregation, Mr. Louis Saillant, sent a cry to Saint Joseph heavenward. His trust was rewarded; no one was hurt and no damage occurred to the laundry. Gratefully, he went out to find a statue of Saint Joseph in a local shop and installed it in the basement. The traditional Novena was inaugurated March 10 to 19, 1905, and still continues to this day.
