DID  YOU  KNOW  THAT...

With over 700 babies without families, the Crèche Saint-Vincent-de-Paul launched a public appeal on March 27, 1931: “If there are not enough adoptions, new arrivals will have to be refused.”

See answer >>

Unable to provide for the daily care of 754 babies, those in charge at the Crèche Saint-Vincent-de-Paul were obliged to stop admissions temporarily on May 6, 1931. “It is hard to imagine just the laundry involved for 754 babies, in addition to hospital linens and staff needs in various services, totalling 300 adults. This means daily laundry for 1000 persons. The laundry has 18 to 20 employees working full time 6 days a week and 3 nights out of 6.” (From the Quebec City daily, Le Soleil, on Wednesday, May 6, 1931)
