Had you heard about “l’œuvre des berceaux,” the Cradle Charity?
In 1931, benefactors like Mr. Honoré Fortier from St-Bernard parish, Quebec, could pay for cribs for the babies at the Crèche Saint-Vincent-de-Paul (foundling home). The name of the donor would then be fastened to the foot of the cradle on a bronzed varnished wood plaque.
